Afghani War Rugs Reimagined, Yorkton Workshop, Hackney, London 2023

In a solo exhibition at Yorkton Workshop, Hackney, Ghafar Tajmohammad presented work developed through a commission by Counterpoints Arts, with support from Arts Council England and in partnership with the Afghan Association London Harrow.
Afghani War Rugs Reimagined reinterpreted Afghan war rugs through a blend of art and oral history. The exhibition showcased expanded paintings, handwoven rugs, and audio and text narratives that went beyond the pictorial symbols of conflict and violence, instead examining the lived migration experiences of the Afghan diaspora in the UK.
